At Prolux, our servicing and repair team are able to maintain, repair or replace windows and doors. Our specialist equipment, lifting gear and parts store allows us to work for commercial and residential properties.
An engineer is booked to visit your property to carry out the work. This covers the first one hour of labour.
An hourly rate plus parts is then applied until the works is completed
– agreed with you first.
Additional works may be quoted and arranged.
A surveyor is booked to visit your property to carry out a full survey and produce a report of their findings. The report and a detailed quote of materials and labour will be sent for you to agree and to book in the engineers to bring your property up to standard.
Once the property is up to standard we can offer an annual service contract based on our recommendation which can be paid by direct debit.
This contract will be bespoke to your property. You will receive a minimum of 2 visits in a 12 month period.
All labour is covered as part of your contract. Additional labour visits are not chargeable. Parts are reduced in cost by 10%.
If you take out a Service Contract when you have new windows and doors installed, all parts will be free of charge for the duration of the contract.
If you are getting condensation in between the panes of glass then your double glazed unit has failed. This condensation can look like mist and is refereed to as a blown unit. A failed unit will reduce the energy efficiency of your window causing a colder room.
Quite often, over time, locks, handles and hinges can fail (usually down to a lack of maintenance). We carry new and old style stock to cater for all homes that need care and attention.
With Cornwall being exposed to the sea, salty air can take its effect on our windows. Regular servicing and maintenance is always required to remain operational and in good working condition. Servicing is often forgotten, causing windows to seize and mechanisms to fail.
Quite often doors and windows can need adjusting for them to close, and locks to engage seamlessly. We are able to adjust the majority of doors and windows for them to operate safely, smoothly and lock perfectly.
If you have any glazing broken by accident or vandalism we can come out and board up any open areas subject to weather or security. Whilst on call we can measure up for any replacement glazing, supply a replacement and install.
Upgrading your double glazed units can make a huge difference in your property retaining heat. Our latest low argon Planitherm units out perform those typically installed in 2000’s by 300%. The thermal efficiency will help reduce heating bills.

Exchanging your standard units for solar glazing can help to improve u-values as it helps to prevent overheating whilst enhancing the energy performance of your property. It also helps to combat fading of furniture by blocking up to 72% of solar energy.

We can assess all windows and doors for fire escape regulation and advise of any considerations. This could be replacing windows to achieve a fire escape, or adjusting/ re-fitting an apartment front door to protect against fire and meet building regulations.
